Avast is a popular antivirus software program that is often included as part of a computer security package. It is a legitimate program and should not cause any problems. However, occasionally users will receive an email from Avast that is suspicious or alarming. This email may claim that the user’s computer is infected with a virus, and asks them to install the Avast software in order to remove the virus.

If you receive such an email, please do not follow the instructions it contains. Instead, please contact Avast customer service to verify that the email is legitimate. If the email is not legitimate, Avast will not install any software on your computer and you can continue to use your computer normally.
