The ZenMate security and privacy app has been downloaded over 1 million times and boasts a 4.5-star rating on the Google Play store.

However, some users have voiced concerns that there’s no kill switch, which means that if their device is stolen or lost, the data on it can be accessed by the thief.

In a statement to The Verge, ZenMate said that it “[does] not have a kill switch because it is not feasible or desirable.” ZenMate argues that having a kill switch would make the app less secure because it would allow people to track the device’s whereabouts even if it’s lost or stolen.

Ultimately, it’s up to the user to decide whether or not they want to install a kill switch on their device. While it’s not mandatory, it’s definitely a useful feature to have if you’re worried about your privacy and security.
