When setting up a new domain, it is common to use the default DNS servers provided by your ISP. However, you may want to change these to better reflect the organization’s name and location.

This can be done by editing the DNS settings on your domain controller.

To change the DNS servers on a domain controller:

1. Log on to the domain controller that you want to change the DNS settings on.

2. Open the DNS Manager tool.

3. In the left pane, under the Domains and Trusts node, double-click the domain that you want to change the DNS settings on.

4. In the right pane, under the DNS Servers node, click the Add button.

5. In the Add DNS Server dialog box, type the new DNS server address in the Server Address text box.

6. Click the Add button.

7. In the Confirm DNS Server Changes dialog box, click OK.

10. In the Change Domain Controller dialog box, click the Select button.

11. In the Select Domain Controller dialog box, click the Domain Controller from the list.

16. In the Change Primary DNS Server dialog box, type the new primary DNS server address in the Server Address text box.

30. In the Deactivation Wizard dialog box, click the Next button.
