Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, and other resources on the Internet. A DNS server is a computer that maintains a database of domain names and their corresponding IP addresses. When you type in www.google.

com into your web browser, your computer contacts a DNS server to look up the IP address for www.com.

If you want to find the DNS records for a domain, you can use a DNS lookup service like Google DNS or OpenDNS. To use Google DNS, type google.com into your web browser and press Enter. To use OpenDNS, type opendns.

com into your web browser and press Enter. The DNS servers at both Google and OpenDNS will query their respective DNS servers for the domain name you entered.

If the domain name you entered doesn’t exist at the DNS server at Google or OpenDNS, the DNS servers at Google and OpenDNS will return a “server not found” error. If the domain name you entered exists at the DNS server at Google or OpenDNS, the DNS servers at Google and OpenDNS will return the IP address for the domain name.
