DNS is a system that helps computers find their way to websites and other resources by translating domain names into IP addresses. When you type a domain name into your browser, your computer sends a request to a DNS server for the name.

If the DNS server can’t find the name in its database, it sends a request to a secondary DNS server.

If you want to set up your own DNS server, you’ll need to register your domain name with the appropriate authority. There are a few different ways to register a domain name.

You can register your domain name with a domain name registrar, such as GoDaddy, Network Solutions, or Google. You can also register your domain name with a DNS provider, such as DynDNS or Opensource DNS.

Once you’ve registered your domain name, you’ll need to set up your DNS server. To set up your DNS server, you’ll need to install the DNS software and configure it.

You can configure your DNS server to use a different domain name server for each zone. You can also configure your DNS server to use a primary and secondary DNS server.
