A DNS query is a request from your computer to a DNS server to lookup a specific address or name. To send a DNS query, open a web browser and type in the IP address or hostname of the server you want to query.

For example, if you wanted to know the IP address for a specific website, you would type in the website’s IP address into your web browser.

When you type in the IP address or hostname, your computer will attempt to connect to the DNS server associated with that address or hostname. If the DNS server is available, your computer will send a query to that server.

The DNS server will then respond with the IP address or hostname you requested.

So how do you know if the DNS server is available? You can try to ping the IP address or hostname yourself. If you can’t ping the address or hostname, then the DNS server probably isn’t available.
