Setting up a VPN on your home computer can provide an extra layer of security and privacy when using public Wi-Fi networks. This guide will show you how to set up a VPN on your home computer using Windows 10.

First, open the Windows 10 Start menu and search for “VPN”. Click the “VPN” app tile to open the VPN settings.

Under “General,” click on “Create a new VPN connection.”

Enter the VPN’s name and password in the “Name” and “Password” fields, respectively. Click on “Create Connection.”

Under “Location,” select a location where the VPN will be used. For example, you can select your home country.

Click on “Create Connection.”.

Under “VPN Protocol,” select the protocol type you want to use. The most common types are “PPTP” and “L2TP/IPSec.

” Click on “Create Connection.

Under “IPSec Pre-Shared Key,” enter the IPSec pre-shared key of the VPN. This key is used to encrypt the data packets between the VPN client and the VPN server.

Under “VPN Server,” click on the name of the VPN server. The VPN server’s IP address and port will be displayed.

If the server is offline, the “Not Available” message will be displayed. Click on “Connect.

When the connection is established, the VPN will be enabled. The “Connected” message will be displayed.

Under “Use the following IP addresses,” enter the IP address of the computer that you want to connect to the VPN. The “Default Gateway” and “Default DNS Server” will be automatically set to the VPN’s IP address.

If you want to use a different IP address, enter it in the “IP Address” field. Click on “OK.

Under “Use the following port numbers,” enter the port number of the computer that you want to connect to the VPN. The “Default Port” will be automatically set to the port number of the VPN.

If you want to use a different port number, enter it in the “Port” field.

Under “Use the following protocol,” select the protocol type of the VPN.

” Click on “OK.

Under “Configure Automatic Connections,” check the “Enabled” box. This will automatically connect to the VPN when your computer starts.

Click on “OK.

When you’re finished, close the VPN settings window.

Now that the VPN is set up, you can use it to connect to the internet using the default network settings. To connect to the VPN, open the “Network and Sharing Center.”

Select the “VPN” connection from the list of connections. The “Status” column will show “Connected.”

To disconnect from the VPN, click on the “Disconnect” button.
