On this test, Avast Free Antivirus was faster than Windows Defender, taking just over 26 seconds to complete the test while Windows Defender took almost 34 seconds.

In our next test, we used the Geekbench 4 benchmark to measure the performance of the antivirus software on a range of tasks. On this test, Avast Free Antivirus was again faster than Windows Defender, with a score of 2,583 on the Single Core test and 8,924 on the Multi Core test.

Our final test measured the speed of the antivirus software when scanning a large number of files. In this test, Avast Free Antivirus was once again faster than Windows Defender, taking just under two minutes to complete the scan while Windows Defender took almost three minutes.

Overall, these tests show that Avast Free Antivirus is faster than Windows Defender on a range of tasks. Although it is not the fastest antivirus software on the market, it is certainly a popular choice that is well worth considering if you are looking for an affordable and reliable solution.
