ProtonVPN is one of the most popular VPNs on the market, boasting over 3 million users. However, the company has been accused of being compromised.

In March of this year, security researcher Brian Krebs reported that he had been able to track down a malicious actor who was using a compromised ProtonVPN server to spy on users. Krebs said that he was able to track the attacker’s IP address and track their activities, including logging into user accounts and stealing data.

This is not the first time ProtonVPN has been accused of being compromised. In December of last year, security researcher Nicholas Weaver reported that he had been able to track down a compromised ProtonVPN server that was being used to distribute malware.

While it is impossible to know for sure whether or not ProtonVPN is compromised, the company’s history of being accused of being compromised raises doubts about its security.
