An authoritative DNS server is responsible for resolving DNS queries for a domain. This means that the authoritative DNS server knows the IP addresses and hostnames for all the domain’s records.

An authoritative DNS server is important for two reasons. First, it ensures that the DNS queries for a domain are correctly resolved.

Second, it can prevent DNS queries for certain domain records from being redirected to another DNS server.

If a DNS server is not authoritative for a domain, then other DNS servers may be used to resolve the domain’s records. This can cause problems because the authoritative DNS server may not have the latest records for the domain.
