In July 2017, IPVanish announced that they would be shutting down their operations. In a blog post, they wrote that they had “decided to shift our focus to the development and expansion of our core product.

” This followed a period of increased scrutiny by the US government, which had begun to crack down on VPN providers.

IPVanish has not been the only VPN provider to suffer during this time. Many have closed down or have had to scale back their operations as a result of the increased scrutiny.

Nevertheless, IPVanish’s closure is notable given the company’s history and its prominence in the VPN market.

Given the increasing regulatory pressure on VPN providers, it is likely that IPVanish’s closure will have a negative impact on the market as a whole.
