VPN profiles are stored on the Mac in the user’s home directory in a subdirectory named .vpn. By default, the user’s home directory is located at:

/Users/USERNAME/.local/Library/Application Support/MacOSX/Profiles/

The default subdirectory for VPN profiles is MacOSX/Profiles/Default. If the user has a separate home directory for each of their Macs, the profiles for each of those Macs will be located in a subdirectory corresponding to the user’s home directory.

If the user logs in to their Mac using a user name and password, the VPN profile will be automatically loaded when they first log in. If the user logs in using their Apple ID, the VPN profile will be automatically loaded when they first sign in to iCloud.

If the user has not logged in to their Mac for a period of time, the VPN profile will be deleted when the user logs in the next time.

If the user wants to disable their VPN profile, they can delete the .vpn directory and the associated profiles.
