Netflix no longer allows VPN users to log in with their accounts. The reason behind this decision is that Netflix believes that using a VPN to circumvent geo-blocking and other restrictions is illegal.

In March of 2018, Netflix announced that it was cracking down on VPN users by suspending their accounts if they were detected using a VPN.

Netflix believes that its subscribers are in the best position to decide where they want to watch content. By allowing subscribers to choose where they want to watch content, Netflix believes that it can better compete with services such as Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.

Furthermore, Netflix believes that it can reduce piracy by encouraging subscribers to watch its content legitimately.

Netflix is not the only streaming service to ban VPN users. Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer all have similar policies.

While Netflix is the most well-known service to have this policy, it is not the only streaming service to have it.
