Cpanel, Inc. is a provider of web hosting, domain name registration, and email services.

Cpanel’s verification process for domain ownership via DNS records is an important part of its overall security and fraud prevention efforts.

Cpanel’s verification process begins with a request for information from the domain’s registrar. This request includes the domain name, the registrar’s Whois database record, and the registrar’s DNS record for the domain name.

Cpanel then uses this information to verify that the domain name is registered with the correct registrar and that the registrar’s DNS record is correct.

If Cpanel finds any errors in the DNS records, it will contact the registrar to correct the errors. If the registrar cannot correct the errors, Cpanel will add a note to the domain’s DNS record informing other DNS servers of the domain’s incorrect ownership.

Cpanel will also add a flag to the domain’s account indicating that the domain is not verified.
