Domain name systems (DNS) are used to translate domain names to IP addresses.

DNS is a hierarchical system that translates domain names to IP addresses as follows:

The root zone is the top level of the DNS. It contains all the information about the domain name system.

The top-level domain (TLD) is the first level of the DNS. It contains a list of all the domains in the DNS.

The second level of the DNS is the domain. It contains a list of all the hostnames in the domain.

The third level of the DNS is the host. It contains a list of all the IP addresses that are associated with the hostname.

The fourth level of the DNS is the IP address. It contains a list of all the hostnames and domains that are associated with the IP address.
