Avast is a multinational software company headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the world’s leading providers of security solutions for PC and mobile platforms.

The company was founded in 2002 by Pavel Cermak, Jan Hruska, and Milan Svec.

In January 2016, the company was acquired by Intel Corporation for $4.8 billion.

As part of the acquisition, Avast will continue to operate as an independently managed company.
