Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the computers that translate domain names, such as “example.com”, into the IP addresses that computers on the internet use. When you type in “www.example.com” into your browser, your computer queries the DNS server for the IP address for “www.

com”. Most people use their ISP’s DNS servers, but you can also use a public DNS server if you want. To set up a public DNS server, you first need to buy a domain name (such as “public-dns.com”), and then set up a DNS server on your computer. You can also use a DNS server that your ISP provides, but be sure to check their DNS server settings to make sure that they are pointing to the correct public DNS server.
