When you want to access a website, your web browser requests the website’s domain name (for example, www.google.

com) from a DNS server. The DNS server then looks up the domain name in a list of domain name servers (DNS servers) and returns the IP address for the website. .

To register an IP address with a DNS server, you need to know the IP address of the DNS server. You can find the IP address of a DNS server by using a network diagnostic tool, such as the ipconfig command in Windows.

To register the IP address of a DNS server with the Windows operating system, follow these steps:

1. Open the Command Prompt.
2. Type ipconfig and press Enter.
3. In the IP Configuration window, scroll down to the DNS section.
4. In the DNS Servers list, click the name of the DNS server that you want to register the IP address of.
5. In the Server Type field, click the type of DNS server that you want to register the IP address of.

6. In the IP Address field, type the IP address of the DNS server.
7. In the Default Gateway field, type the IP address of the DNS server.
8. In the Preferred DNS Server field, type the IP address of the DNS server.
9. Click OK.

To register the IP address of a DNS server with the Mac OS X operating system, follow these steps:

1. Open the System Preferences app. Click the Network icon. In the list of network connections, click the name of the network connection that you want to register the IP address of.

1. Open a terminal window. Type the following command and press Enter: nmap -sP -p 80 -oX

To register the IP address of a DNS server with the BlackBerry operating system, follow these steps:

1. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click on the Options button. Click on the DNS tab. In the Server field, type the IP address of the DNS server. In the Preferred Servers field, type the IP address of the DNS server. In the Record Type field, type the type of record that you want to register (A, MX, CNAME, or SRV). In the Port field, type the port number of the DNS server.
